Cruising the Great Lakes was once a popular pastime, but has all but disappeared in the 1960s when many aging cruise ships were retired from service. Today, the Great Lakes is experiencing tremendous growth in the cruise industry. A forgotten interest in "cruising the lakes" has been rekindled with the arrival of several modern cruise ships to the Great Lakes.
